Lord Varash is known to be right hand of ruling necromancer (Thuran arch-hierophant & lich), Kalos Hathal and is best known (by his many enemies) as the Butcher of Kal-dashir. At some stage, Enialis was handed over to servants to bring up - with strict instructions that he should be kept away from his father. His terrified step-father also warned him to keep away from the forest as 'evil spirits' dwelt there. During his first twenty years he rarely saw his father but many remarked on the growing resemblance. As time passed it became more obvious that he would be noticed by Lord Varash (or worse - by one of his enemies). After working with his master's savage warg hounds, where he showed considerable promise as a handler, Enialis started to receive strange notes that revealed secrets about the palace. Eventually they led to a parcel of clothes, some food, a map that led into the forest and a warning that his life was in danger. Enialis left gifts for his few surviving friends (his step parents having expired long before) and headed off into the forest. Strange forest spirits seemed to conspire to prevent the necromancers from pursuing him and the warghounds merely wagged their tails when they saw him and raced back to their master. He fled across the Thuran Wilderness and into the foothills of the Valen Massif. After encountering some bugbears he fled down to the coast and was picked up by a sea-elf trading ship. Due to his elven features they took him to the Mor-Valen Isles where he was finally able to discover his emerging talents as a druid and guardian of the forest. He was setting out to learn about his role in the world (the traditional journey a young druid takes before being assigned a forest to protect) when disaster struck... 1.1.1.1 *Daisy Greengage - Halfling Wizard (Helen)* Halflings are rarely wizards (and those are usually hedge wizzards) and Daisy would not have been offered a chance to be one if a Mor-Valen mage had not seen her testing unusually potent fireworks with her friends. The mage, Narisor, consulted the elders and offered to sponsor the child through the Mor-Valen college of magic. The elves were eager to establish positive contacts with the Summer Lands and with the formidable High Constable, Sam Nettles of Midsummer (who gained his reputation solving a series of grisly murders that blighted the lives of the inhabitants). Daisy mastered basic magic and excelled at alchemy and was setting out to spend a year with her family, before becoming an explorer/researcher/adventurer, when fate intervened... 1.1.1.1 *U-Boi - Human Rogue (Ingrid)* U-Boi spent most of her childhood doing odd jobs for the guild in Helmgard. As a scout and spotter for the pick pockets and burglars that infested the sprawling slums under the shadow of the famous Great Keep. She was often used as a messenger by the guild master and when he was captured, he entusted her with a letter to carry to the guildmaster of Lycia. The Helmgard guildmaster was murdered in his jail cell and U-Boi opened the latter to find that it was a square of numbers and letters. A coded message that only the guildmaster of Lycia would understand. Grabbing her meagre savings she took passage on a ship heading south and had already earned the status of full crew member when destiny beckoned... 1.1.1.1 *Ramiro - Elven Bard (Tim)* The only hope for the elves lies in diplomacy. The power of Amar Ghul grows more formidable every year and their raiders and slavers penetrate deeper into the islands. The solution was to train young elves to investigate and explore the outer world. Ramiro showed a great talent for the subtle art of diplomacy and seemed to mix with humans easily. Councillor Tirion saw great potential in the young bard and selected him for a mission requiring a great deal of initiative and delicacy... The power of Amar Ghul grows stronger every year and there are rumours of a Red Wizard advising the pirate lords... Ramiro was given orders to investigate a symbol associated with this mysterious creature and to gather information and allies to aid the beleaguered More-Valen Isles... He was on his way to Lycia when chance indicated another path...
